Although your housemates may be friendly and nice towards you, there is still a need for you to be careful on the things you say towards them. You have to know that they are still a stranger to you when it comes to that kind of matter. That means you have to think twice or many times before you blurt out something that can offend someone. Of course, talking without even thinking about it is one of the many reasons as to why most people are caught into misunderstandings, or worst, fights.
Respect the difference between public and personal items
There's nothing more important than giving respect to your housemates. This is important if you want to be also respected. Of course, not just with the attitude you show to them, but also with the personal items they have. If you have something that you want to borrow, you have to ask permission first before using their personal belongings. With that, you are giving respect not just with the item, but with the owner as well. Moreover, you also have to know how to be polite when it comes to asking a particular thing, for as not to offend the owner of the item you want to borrow.
Bring up your pet peeves
Whether you realize it or not, we all have pet peeves. We have something that we hate, especially when it is not in line with our personality. Obviously, your roommates will not know anything about it if you do not open up with them. You have to let them know. In this case, they will have an idea on what things no to do to disappoint you, or you to them – vice versa. That is why you have to be mindful of the things you do towards them.
